Internet Safety- This doesn't just apply to little kids who are still in the process of learning. Everybody needs to stay aware of this. There are predators online, cyber bullies, scammers, and all other kinds of people trying to hurt you. You may think its silly and never happens but it happens no matter who you are and what age you are. So in order to stay safe you need to pay attention and ALWAYS look out for red flags.

Ages 5 and up- When younger kids are online they might not be as cautious. So if they are playing games on the internet, they may see a pop-up ad. It might say, "CLICK HERE TO WIN 100000 DOLLARS!!!!!!!!" They don't understand that they are fake. Then if they click it, it will put a virus on the whole computer. Also they don't have a lot of patience. If they see something they will repeatedly click all over. They could click a link that sends them somewhere they don't want.

Younger kids also need to be on the lookout for predadtors. They often go on chatrooms. It is gross but it does happen. So if kids give out information they can be seriously hurt.

Teens need to avoid getting ripped off, disrespected, stalked, bullied while trying to have a good time online. Face book and MySpace can be dangerous. If you don’t watch what you say anyone is able to see it. Just because you delete it doesn’t mean its gone forever. People also can make a fake page and pretend to be someone else. So watch what you say. Also things can be taken the wrong way. When you type it may not show the expression you hoped for. Never talk about someone on the internet (or in person but internet can be worse) someone could be with somebody who you don’t want to know about your life.

Tips on being safe

  • Never give out a phone number
  • Never talk about anyone
  • Don’t click on pop-up adds
  • Harass anyone online

  • Put what your doing and what time

For teenagers sexting is also an issue. Sexting is when you send out sexually explicit pictures. Once sent online or over a text it is never gone. Kids send them to other people and people you never thought will see them end up. It is wrong and can be hurtful.

When your in your 20s you make think internet safety is no big deal because your old enough and you think you know what you are doing. People can be tricky and hack your computer.
